Sometimes it may be necessary for you to share your VS or vsHome settings with other users. For example you may be an administrator who wants all other users to follow your settings, or you may have a retailer using the software who needs your pricing information to accurately quote using the software.
To share settings with another user, you need to use the packager application which will be in your ‘PSTLtd > vs_(company name)’ directory.
Find the application ‘packager.exe’, and double click to run it.
Click ‘Pack’.
You can then choose the settings, data or information you want to share using the check boxes in the centre panel.
Once you’re happy with choosing what to send, click create package.
When this is created, click the ‘Send Package’ button at the bottom right.
You can then input the email address of the person you’d like to share the data with. (If this is more than one person, separate the email addresses with a comma).
Click ‘Send package’ to send the package via email.
The recipient of the package then needs to copy the ‘local.pak’ file they receive via email to a suitable location on their machine.
By using the same ‘packager.exe’ application on their machine, they can then unpack the package by clicking ‘Unpack’, making sure they find the ‘local.pak’ file at the saved location on their machine by clicking ‘browse for another package (.pak) file…’.
Click ‘Unpack package’ to complete the process.
